Clairvoyance without understanding and logic has no value

Finding these thoughts of Steiner at this time is very heartening to me. The work I am currently doing which will be presented in my upcoming books aim to clothe my baby steps into clairvoyance in a very approachable and hopefully enlightening manner. Conversing with the beloved dead, with angels, should not be for the chosen few. Anyone with a sincere desire and a bit of discipline should be able to make that connection. But to what purpose? As the kabbalists would say…for Tikkun Olam. For the reparation of the world. Nothing less. Wishing you the happiest of holiday seasons.

However much a clairvoyant may be able to investigate and see in the spiritual world, what he sees is of no value to him and to others so long as he is unable to bring it down into the ordinary sphere of men, and to express it in thought that can be grasped by sound logic and a natural feeling for truth. The clairvoyant must in fact first understand the matter himself if it is to be of any use to him. Its value begins where the possibility of logical proof begins. […] Picture to yourselves a man who has perhaps made quite exceptional discoveries in the spiritual world through purely clairvoyant observation, but who has neglected to clothe these observations in language suited to the ordinary sense of truth of any age. Do you know what would happen to him? All his discoveries would be wiped out after death!…

The love or even the sympathy we extend to the dead eases his path, removes hindrances from him

The last sentence is of particular interest to me.

The great Rudolf Steiner Quotes Site

In order that we may really understand one another, I want to speak first of certain aspects of the mutual relationship between the living and the dead, starting with a quite simple phenomenon which will be explained in accordance with the findings of spiritual investigations. Souls who sometimes practise a little self-contemplation will be able to observe the following (and I believe that many have done so). Let us suppose that someone has hated another person in life, or perhaps it was, or is, merely a question of antipathy or dislike. When the person towards whom hatred or antipathy was directed dies, and the other hears of his death, he will feel that the same hatred or antipathy cannot be maintained. If the hatred persists beyond the grave, sensitive souls will feel a kind of shame that it should be so. This feeling — and it is present in many…

Nourishment for the souls of the dead

May you be a cornucopia for your beloved Dead.

The great Rudolf Steiner Quotes Site

In a certain sense the souls of the dead too need nourishment; not, of course, the kind of nourishment required by human beings on the earth, but of the nature of spirit-and-soul. By way of comparison, just as we on the earth must have cornfields where the grain for our physical sustenance ripens, so must the souls of the dead have cornfields from which they can gather certain sustenance which they need during the time between death and a new birth. As the eye of clairvoyance follows the souls of the dead, the souls of sleeping human beings are seen to be cornfields for the dead. For one who has this experience in the spiritual world for the first time, it is not only surprising but deeply shattering to see how the souls living between death and a new birth hasten as it were to the souls of sleeping human…

Through the Looking Glass

On the Saturday of my weekend with Raymond Moody, we experimented with something st-catherine-of-siennahe has never done before. We gazed together in the mirror. Before we did, we set the intention to go into the mirror and connect with what I call the Enlightened Dead – those of a high spiritual aptitude who have been in the world of spirit for some time and are actively interested in helping the manifest world. This incorporates Rudolf Steiner’s idea that one of the most important acts of service to this world and the next is for those here on earth to act as a conduit for the unrealized potential of the Enlightened Dead, bringing it down to the physical plane.

Before we began gazing, Raymond chose a piece of nonsense poetry suited to our purpose. I do not know that name of it but since our goal was of a spiritual nature, it was spiced with words like consciousness, over-soul, gnostic and so on. It set the tone quite perfectly.

Raymond has been mirror gazing for over thirty years and just what I hoped would happen, happened; I was able to piggy-back off his immense energy and things enfolded rapidly. So rapidly in fact that I had to break off the experience after a short while or be unable to remember all I experienced, be able to write it all down.

Here’s where it gets tricky. What exactly happened to me in the mirror? I cannot say for sure but I will give it to you as it was given to me. With time and practice perhaps I will know for certain what the nature of this experience truly was…or maybe not. It was without a doubt powerful and shifted my energy very high.

This is what happened…

As I gazed into the mirror it began to change shapes and formed a heart-shaped entrance to what I heard in my head was a monastery? A cathedral, a nunnery? No…a monastery. Okay monastery. On my left I once again saw a being outlined in brilliant white light. This is the third time I’ve seen this being. It doesn’t say anything to me but I sense it is a loving being of Light.

The entrance expanded and enveloped me. I am inside the mirror. Next I heard inside my head – St. Sienna. Okay, I am not Catholic, I don’t know much about saints…but Sienna sounds familiar.  Whatever this is feels decidedly female. “I come from dark times too,” she says. I ask for more information – where are you from, what time? I’m wondering about Spain, about the Inquisition, but I do not get any more information from …her. I’ll have my husband Google about her later.

“You have a wounded beast for a leader,” she says. I hear this inside my head, not an actual voice but telepathically, “but no soul is irredeemable. This is what happens when one is raised without love. He does not know agape love.” Whoa…I am stunned.  When I began this journey to create the Community of Spirits, I had no idea how the world would unfold and what the U.S. would encounter shortly. I am not a political person…but it seems very clear who and what she is referring to…and what our purpose together might be.

“You must love the darkness bright.” She says this over and over. “You must love the darkness bright.” She shows me his heart. It looks like a lump of blackest coal. “You must send a laser beam of Light, of Love, into his heart. Yes, peaceful resistance but you must redeem his heart and then his will, will follow.”

“It is easy to condemn but you must join with others and reach higher to love the darkness bright. You join with others there on the earth and I will gather others on this side. Linked hand to hand, we will flow the healing Light of Love to his wounded heart.”

“There is a battle for his soul and we must win for the consequences of failure will be dire for the earth and all upon it. We must love the darkness bright.”

Okay…what was that? Did I actually connect with a saint? Is this some part of my higher Self? I do not know. I do feel it is okay to act as if and begin the task of joining with others, to build the Community of Spirits on both sides of the threshold and see if we can send the power of Light and Love where is it desperately needed.

When I shared my experience with Raymond, he shared his with me. Though it was different in the details, he also saw the linking of…let’s call it energy. He saw a feminine being in white and blue. Interesting. He also told me that there was a St. Catherine of Sienna.

So after our day together, which included another double gazing experience I will share next time, I spoke with my husband on the phone. He googled Saint Catherine of Sienna. While I encourage you to click the link for more information I will briefly tell those of you, like me, who are not familiar with the saints in any real way, that St. Catherine lived in Sienna, Italy during the middle 1300s, during the time of the plague. “I come from dark times too.” She created a monastery. She was very politically active during her time on earth and she is considered the patron saint of the U.S. Whatever this is, it seems perfect for what our work in the Community of Spirits might be at least for a while.

That was my first experience of double gazing with Raymond Moody. The jury is out on what it all means…but it was a transformative experience no matter what. I’ll leave you with this and next time will share my second double gazing experience with Raymond which was quite different yet very, very meaningful.

A Touching Visit with R

man-touching-womans-face

While I won’t go into great detail about using the psychomanteum for contacting our beloved dead as a form of grief therapy, I do want to mention it because for many, it may be the most important personal use of mirror gazing.

My second solo visit to the psychomanteum was for the sole purpose of contacting R, my deceased first husband and, I feel, the initiator and co-founder of the Community of Spirits. I’d waited a very long time for this experience and who better to guide me through it than Dr. Raymond Moody.

If you read his book Reunions, at the time you will see he had a very elaborate and lengthy process to undergo before entering the psychomanteum in order to visit with a beloved dead. Over the years he has found that the simpler, the better. So I didn’t need to bring photos or mementos of R. Instead I just talked about him – sharing many memories, happy, sad…sharing the best things about our marriage and my deepest regrets. We did that for at least an hour and it was quite emotional for me. Then Dr. Moody found what I thought was the perfect piece of nonsense poetry (I do not remember its name at this time). It was amazing to me how very moving this piece of nonsense was, how it managed to somehow capture the feeling in my heart, bringing me to tears.

With that, I entered the psychomanteum alone with no music. I was in there for a very long time, likely several hours (Dr. Moody had forgotten a timepiece and wanted to be sure I had plenty of time for the experience). It took a while to get past some normal household noise (his two teenagers were home and their voices were easily heard) but with time, I got past that.

I wish I could say R materialized in the mirror, that he came out and appeared in 3-D next to me. I truly wish I could – but he didn’t. I did see a formation of white in the mirror, as if he was trying to take form but R never materialized visually for me. And honestly – that made me sad, very sad because I had waited so long and prepared for this so long. Tears began flowing down my cheeks. Then…I felt…the lightest touch. It felt like R was running a finger down my tears to dry them. After that…the lightest kiss on my lips. Oh my God! Was I imagining this? But it happened again later in our visit.

What I am finding out with practice is that, we each will receive information or contact in different ways. Clairvoyance or extra sight is not my forte. I hear and feel and smell and know much easier than I see. With his touch, I relaxed into the experience. Again, Dr. Moody cautions us to “try not to try.” Oh yeah, that is easy. But…finally I surrendered to experience in whatever shape it was going to take. I just relaxed and let go of any and all expectations.

Before I knew it, my mind was filled with reminisces – happy ones, sad one, intimate ones, private ones. And he made me laugh as he did in physical life as he was quite the clown. The tears flowed and again I felt his gentle touch tracing my tears, his soft kiss. I told him I was so frustrated that I couldn’t see him like other have with their loved ones…that I couldn’t actually hear his voice, our communication was telepathic.

What he said to that was powerful, he said, “That is because we share the same space.” Rudolf Steiner tells us that the dead are not “somewhere else.” They are right here only at a higher level of frequency. We share the same space. He also tells us that our loved ones can reside within us. That is not a metaphor. Our beloved dead can live right inside us. They have access to all our thoughts, our memories, our emotions. They know us truly better now than when they were in the flesh.

So I believe that might be why I may never see R appear visually in the mirror, nor actually hear his voice. We’ve been communication for a couple of years now, in this different way and I may have to be content with that. Trust in that. Strengthen that.

I also got that sense that though R will always be a part of my team of those across the threshold who will guide this work, a good deal of what he was tasked to do is completed. He was the motivating factor to push me from working with the dying to working with the dead. He will always be there, cheering me on but perhaps in the background a bit more as the others begin to come forward. In the next post, I will begin sharing those encounters with you.

So mirror gazing can be a powerful tool for easing grief by allowing you to connect with your beloved dead. It takes time and practice and patience. It may also take figuring out just how you receive information. But I highly recommend it to seeking out a medium. Why not make direct contact yourself instead of relying on someone else who may or may not be ethical in their practice?

Take good care until next time…

The Mission of the Community of Spirits (or What’s it All About, Alfie?)

As a preface, as referenced in my last blog, “Dialing in the Dying and the Dead,” I write this while listening to a recording of a brainwave entrainment of Epsilon, the lowest brainwave frequency we currently know. I find this frequency extraordinarily soothing as I feel my brain literally slowing down.

It seems time for me to enunciate, as best as I am able, the mission of the Community of Spirits and the direction it is leading. Please understand that this is being revealed to me step by step. I do not know where all this will ultimately lead. Normally, I do not begin something without a clear vision of where it will ultimately end, but this time, I am urged to move forward and trust that the next right step will be given to me at the right time. Perhaps it is the urgency so many of us feel about the times we live in, feeling that we are at a tipping point. That we do not have the luxury of being certain what shape our service will take or where it will lead, only trusting that our inner guidance will correctly steer us as bearers of the Light….because it is imperative that we step out of our comfort zone and stand at the leading edge. Life as we know it requires this of us now.

With that said, I’ll take a deep breath, and begin…

First let me tell you what the Community of Spirits is not. It is not here to convince or convert anyone to a belief in the afterlife. It is based on a knowing that consciousness exists beyond the physical transformation we call death. There are many organizations and individuals that are dedicated to presenting that evidence to the uncertain but that is not our purpose. We take that knowing as a baseline and grow from there. However by becoming a member of the Community of Spirits, your conviction of an afterlife may strengthen and gain more clarity.

Though I am experimenting with a few modalities for entering the unseen world, this community is strongly based on the works of Rudolf Steiner and anthroposophy. Steiner was not infallible nor are his methods and techniques the only way of accessing the inner planes. And in no way do I claim to be a Steiner scholar. Far from it. However, at this time, I have been guided to and deeply connected with his work and its relevancy for the Western psyche. So that is where the focus of this community will reside. Clearly articulated, I hope to draw those in resonance with this method to us. As time goes on, I will reference many of his works on death, life between death and rebirth and destiny, writing about them as a way to lay the foundation for and clarification of where we are heading. So, though I have great respect for the other paths of service to the dead, this community will not focus on them.

Now for what the Community is. I share this now, as it is, I think, a pivotal point of work for the Community of Spirits to engage. Steiner suggests that the so-called living and the so-called dead should be conversant with each other. He believed that the so-called living could do great service for the so-called dead, which we will explore. He also believed that the so-called dead can aid the evolvement of life on earth. Long ago there was an easy dialogue between the two worlds which was lost as man developed self-consciousness. It was a very necessary step but now accomplished, it is imperative that we re-establish the connection with the unseen worlds with this consciousness fully intact.

With no disrespect meant to those born with natural psychic and/or mediumistic abilities, Steiner actually felt that was an unfortunate throwback to an earlier stage of human evolution. He believed the best way to access the unseen world was to learn through discipline, practice and training. So…that is where I come in, having no natural abilities of that kind (though I am highly sensitive and empathic), I will, through studying his techniques and practices, along with a couple of other modalities, see if I can successfully develop what Steiner calls clairvoyant consciousness. I’ll report what does and does not work for me and make suggestions for you to consider. (I can tell you that even now, I have taken baby steps in that direction with positive results.)

Another major part of the work of the Community of Spirits is based on the following Steiner theory. He posits that at this point in human evolution it is not possible to actualize 100% of our potential. We simply do not have the “organs” required for that fully developed at this time. So we all die without fully reaching our potential. We take that unrealized potential with us when we cross the threshold we call death.

Now, while we can’t fully realize our own potential while incarnated, Steiner contends that we can act as conduits for the unrealized potential of the dead to flow through us to the physical plane, for the benefit and evolvement of all. That is a task we will seek clarity on and take up as an act of service. There is much I will need to learn about this process, how it will look, how to do it safely, etc. That is yet to be revealed but I put it out as the overall direction we will take in time.

I am also learning as much as I can about social media and ways for us to connect through cyberspace as I hope this community to be international in scope. That’s a big learning curve for me as I am not technically savvy…but what the heck…just another step out of my comfort zone. I’m starting to get used to it.

Well…I think that is enough to get us started. Your thoughts and support are always appreciated. (Oh…by the way…it gets…quite…spacey…writing in…Epsilon. Don’t overdo it or re-entry to Beta might be a bit…uncomfortable.) Until next time…
